Brand Identity for Goa’s First Authentic Japanese Restaurant
Zeitgeist was approached to create a new brand identity for Sakana – Goa’s first authentic Japanese restaurant. This was an interesting brief as Sakana was set to be a pioneer in the Japanese Restaurants segment in Goa. If positioned correctly, the brand had the potential to draw people in with the power of authenticity alone.
Bringing Japan Closer to Goa
Immersing ourselves into the brief, we took cues from Japanese cultural elements and conducted multiple brainstorming sessions. We derived a bold yet restrained colour palette to advocate the brand’s confidence and class, while we drew our inspiration for the typography from the varying intensity of weights in the lines and curves of Japanese calligraphy. We then adapted the brand language onto all its extensions and proposed a corrugated foldable box for takeaways that provided a non-slip, hardy composition to absorb any spills along the bumpy Goan terrain.
Today the brand has been advocated as one of Goa’s finest and most authentic oriental restaurants.
